Founded by Alexander O'Connell in 1985, Silver Glade begun as a small breeding program, focusing primarily upon show jumping horses- Dutch Warmbloods, specifically. Over time, when Alexander O'Connell and Diana Black joined forces, Diana's racing Thoroughbreds were added to the mix. Their two daughters, Hannah and Jasmine, are heirs to the estate.

Silver Glade Stables is both a competition stable as well as a breeding farm, and so the crops of young horses raised here began to expand from show jumpers, to dressage horses, and eventers. The number of staff and riders grew as the horses did, and before long, the O'Connells found themselves moving up in the ranks more and more quickly.

Now we have a wide variety of warmbloods- competition horses and breeding horses- of only the top quality. Only the best of our horses are bred, and only the top youngsters sold to the public. Of course every now and then, one special horse catches our eye, and we add a homebred to our competition team.

About Silver Glade

Our Philosophy

Silver Glade operates under the idea that the horse comes first. Without the horse, there is no sport, no business, and a distinct lack of friendship, beauty, and grace. Nutrition, proper grooming, exercise, and teamwork is what we believe in, and what our establishment was built around.

Our Facilities

With room for over 60 horses in both our barns, and our pastures, Silver Glade has the space and the resources necessary to support our horses, our riders, and our clients.

Our stalls are bedded with thick layers of straw, and our barns are designed with dozens of windows, and airy stalls, to promote maximum air flow throughout the facilities.

Our Staff

We at Silver Glade believe that there's more to being a horseman or woman than just riding- the best riders are knowledgeable about their horses' care, and are willing and often do, take care of their charges themselves. It is for this reason that we do not hire grooms, and instead offer internships and working student positions.

All of our riders are knowledgeable not only about their sport, but about each of the horses that are under their care. They understand the work that goes into a top-notch competition horse, and are given mucking shifts and lists of chores to do just as the interns and students are.
